Recruitment
So you are interested in Nox Necis? Here is a little information about us, our policies, and expectations.
Potential Applicants:
Before you consider applying to us, know this: We expect mature answers in your application with sentences longer than 3 words. Put some time into your application; first impressions are important. If an application looks like it has been written up in less than 3 minutes, then that is roughly the amount of time we will spend reading it.
Beyond that, thanks for your interest! Our guild is always looking for exceptional applicants who, like us, love to see new content but cannot spend every waking hour playing World of Warcraft. You’ll find our application by clicking HERE.
Our Expectations
You must have a strong desire to progress and win. We want to plow forwards and see the top areas. We expect that you fully understand your character’s abilities, you bring consumables, and you have read boss strategies and watched videos prior to raid so we do not have to waste time explaining fights every night.
You must have a strong sense of commitment and be optimistic. Since we only raid 3 nights a week we need everyone online on time ready to go. We will wipe, and wipe a lot. That’s part of progression. We want to hear your strategy suggestions, but there is a proper time and place to voice your opinions. If you waste half of our preparation time complaining about wipes, costs, and mistakes, you won’t be raiding with us long.
You must be a team player. You cannot be in this just for the loot. You’ll get loot, we’ll all get loot, but we expect you will never complain about who wins what, or having to miss out on kills because of class rotations.
You must have a good sense of humor and an excellent attention span. Our raid chat is open to lots of joking around, but when it is time to fight, we expect Ventrilo to be silent. We are looking for mature, interested players we can enjoy raiding, pvping, and laughing with and aren’t shy to come to real life outings and party. At the same time, we want players who do their jobs, and well.
Lastly, be a decent person. Your actions reflect the guild’s actions. If you act like god’s gift to the world in chats, parties, forums, anywhere, you can expect to lose our guild tag. We’re a quieter guild who likes to progress on our own time by our own rules. We don’t need drama or bad feelings hanging in the air. We expect every member of our team to show respect to all Warcraft players.
Heres a quote from one of the most successful guilds in WoW. While not nearly as strict we expect the same nonetheless.
You must be mature, patient, very good at your class, very experienced with pre-tbc and tbc raids. You must be able to follow orders and have the capacity to think quickly and react accordingly. Must have ventrilo and a mic, use them, but also know when to shut the fuck up. You must not: bitch, moan, cry, whine or otherwise bring any negativity to the raid, be a loot whore, or afk during raids. Must be self- sufficient in terms of consumables, gems, enchants and always come prepared. Attunements / Keys are a plus but not a requirement.
Age Requirement to join Nox Necis
“You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.”
While most of our younger applicants believe this, and we agree it’s a true statement in general, the truth is that life is not as stable for someone still living with his parents or starting out in life with new job or school expectations. Nothing can stop your parents from deciding that you cannot play on a given evening when we need you because you screwed up at school or didn’t cut the lawn. Or they could just cancel your account or toss your computer out the window. If you’re an adult in charge of your own life with a job or school career already established, it’s much easier to plan ahead for your typical disruptions.
Our age policy is not an arbitrary decision. Since 2004 we have recruited some younger players, but because of this “stability” issue with each one of them we have decided to draw the line at 18.
This is a game, but some part of it requires a time investment and personal responsibility that playing casually doesn’t measure up to. We must have players dedicated to our goals who can guarantee that they will be online on a raid night, or we might not be able to raid. For those reasons, only adults who can fully understand what commitment to a team of 25 people means will get invited to the guild.
This doesn’t mean we are a bunch of hardcore, elitist jerks. It simply levels the playing field where all members and raiders know what they are applying for. Lastly, there are times you’ll hear this guild swear, make jokingly racist remarks, beat on dead celebrities, and chat about sexually explicit topics. We do not, nor wish to, have to moderate our behavior. Please make sure you have read this entire post and respond to question 17 with “I have read and I understand.”
Loot and Raids
We currently 25 man raid this schedule (all time is EST):
Monday: 8pm – 12am
Tuesday: 8pm – 12am
Wednesday: 8pm – 12am
Off Days: variable times, optional 10 man raids, progression kills
We run a loot council loot system. When an item is linked in raid chat the interested parties respond with a link to their current gear in that slot with “BUY” or “BUY OFFSPEC”. BUY is for main spec. BUY OFFSPEC is for your offspec gear. Priorities in order are BUY then BUY OFFSPEC . IF by then no one wants, the loot is sharded and put in the guild bank. The officers will then discuss in O chat who gets the loot. There is a number of factors involved in this decision. What class benefits most, who shows up more, roles we need geared quickly, etc. (Tanks, healers, etc.) Then the loot is handed to the raider.
Required Programs and Mods
We require that everyone in the guild meets minimum mod requirements to join our raids. Currently, this includes:
- Ventrilo and a working microphone
- Omen
- DeadlyBossMods (Deadly Boss Mods or BigWigs)
- Raid Frames (especially healers: Grid, Clique, ct_raid, sRaidFrames, x-perl unitframes, etc)
- SWStats or Recount
-Pally Power for all paladins.
Contacts
Please Do Not spam officers for the status of your application.
Officers will contact you in game for further action (Or sometimes the appropriate Class Leader)
Don’t round-robin players for applications status. If we don’t get back to you, you were probably rejected or we haven’t gotten around to it yet.
